Ula 学 — Privacy Policy

Ula — the Universal Language App — ("the app") is a language-study app by Legendary Bytes. We built it to need as little of your data as possible: there are no accounts, and we never ask for your name or contacts. The only time we see an email address is if you choose to leave one when sending feedback.

What we collect

• A random device identifier. Created on first launch and stored on your device. It is not derived from your identity or hardware and is used only to meter the free tier and attach your Pro subscription.
• Usage data. The study topics and questions you type, which features you use, request timestamps, language settings, and technical metadata (IP address, platform, and the approximate location — city level — that the IP address implies). We use this to run the free-tier limits, prevent abuse, and improve the app.
• Feedback. The message you send from Settings → Send feedback, and your email address if you choose to add one so we can reply.
• Purchase records. When you subscribe, Apple or Google processes the payment; we receive a purchase token we verify with them and store to keep your Pro access active. We never see your payment details.

How content is generated

The topics and questions you submit are sent to Google's Gemini API to generate sentences and explanations. Google processes that text as our service provider; it is not used to identify you.

The website

On ulaapp.io we count page visits and taps on the App Store and Google Play buttons. To tell visits apart we set a first-party cookie holding a random visitor identifier (kept for a year), and if you arrived from one of our ads, a second cookie with that ad's campaign tag (90 days). Along with those we log the page, the site you came from, your approximate location and your browser's platform.

The website also loads Google's advertising tag (Google Ads conversion measurement), so we can see which of our ads lead people to the app stores. It sets Google's own cookies and is covered by Google's privacy policy. We have turned off ad personalization for it: it is not used for remarketing or to build advertising profiles. The app itself contains no advertising code.

What we don't do

No ads in the app. No selling or sharing of data with data brokers. The app does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Retention & deletion

Usage records are kept for product analytics and abuse prevention. Deleting the app removes the device identifier's keychain entry linkage from your device; to have the associated server records deleted, contact us with your request from within the app's support channel or the email below.
